National Open House--Sept. 18, 1999

Gutterridge Harley-Davidson celebrated National Open House on Sept.18, 1999. Eastern Illinois Abate also held a bike show at the shop. There was a great turnout of guests, bikers and Harleys. The bike show was a huge success and the refreshments provided by the dealer kept everyone from going home hungry! It was nice to see everyone having such a great time while meeting and making new friends.

Middlefork Valley H.O.G.® were still selling raffle tickets for the wonderful "Harley Chair" which was to be given away at the end of the day. Tickets for this raffle began selling June 11-12, 1999 at the Grand Opening of Gutterridge H-D after their remodeling of the shop. Proceeds from this "Harley Chair" raffle goes into the Chapter's "Jake & Ruth Gutterridge Memorial Scholarship" fund.

Middlefork Valley H.O.G.® started the "Jake & Ruth Gutterridge Memorial Scholarship" fund after a motion was brought before the Chapter by the Treasurer, Lanice Green. On June 28, 1994, Jacob and Ruth Gutterridge were killed in an automobile accident in Indiana. Their legend will always live on in the Gutterridge Harley-Davidson dealership. The funds for these scholarships are raised by members of the Chapter through a variety of charitable activities and events on an annual basis now. This project has become #1 for our Chapter and we have been delighted to present several scholarships to area students. Last year Ed & Vicki K., Chapter members, donated the first "Harley Chair", which was won by Renee Holmes. The drawing was held at the annual "HOG PROM". Ed & Vicki graciously donated the second chair again this year! Middlefork Valley H.O.G. extends our thanks to Ed & Vicki K.! Listed below is winners of the scholarships since 1995.
